Suarez masih berpeluang menambah tambahan hukuman jika banding terkait aksi rasialis akhirnya ditolak FA.
EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal offer club legend Henry two-month loan deal
0 komentar Diposting oleh Football di 22.38Arsenal have finally offered Thierry Henry a contract to return to the club on a two-month loan.
Arsene Wenger had been mulling over whether to take back the club’s all-time leading goalscorer to boost his side’s chances of finishing in the top four.
Robin van Persie needs help to lighten his scoring burden.
Wenger decided to make the offer after the 34-year-old returned from holiday in Mexico this week. Henry has a $4.5million (£2.9m) deal with New York Red Bulls but has been training with Arsenal in the MLS off-season and does not have to return to America until March.
He could feature in seven Premier League games if he accepts the offer — as well as FA Cup ties and the first leg of Arsenal’s Champions League last-16 clash against AC Milan. But it is the Premier League where Wenger’s side need most help, with key games against Manchester United and Tottenham coming up.
Henry has impressed with his sharpness, attitude and effect on the Arsenal squad. He has become increasingly in favour of a return to the club and was moved to tears when a statue of him was unveiled at the Emirates this month.
His return would excite fans smarting from the summer departures of Cesc Fabregas, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri.
He will be welcome in the dressing too, with Alex Song and Per Mertesacker among those singing the former Barcelona man’s praises.
‘He is a great opportunity for us,’ said Mertesacker after Tuesday’s
frustrating 1-1 draw against Wolves.
Mertesacker has also been in touch with fellow German Lukas Podolski,
urging him to join the club in January.
Sportsmail revealed Wenger’s interest in the striker this month, and Mertesacker said: ‘Of course I’ve been on the phone to him. He is a great player. He scores a lot of goals. His left foot is unbelievable.’
Khan could pay for protesting as Peterson turns attention to Bradley for next fight
0 komentar Diposting oleh Football di 00.22Amir Khan has been warned that he faces a long wait for the chance to regain his world light-welterweight titles now the IBF have rejected his appeal that he was robbed in Washington.
With Khan's protest against the unusual deduction of two points for pushing falling on deaf ears, it now looks increasingly unlikely that Lamont Peterson will make good on his immediate post-fight promise of a rematch.
Rival promoter Bob Arum – who is eyeing instead a complete world championship unification fight between the American who was gifted a controversial decision over Khan and his Top Rank fighter Timothy Bradley – reveals here that the Peterson camp are unhappy with the constant criticism of that verdict.
Team Khan asked the authorities to review the points deductions by local referee Joe Cooper which gave former Washington street-kid Peterson a 113-112 victory on the scorecards of two American judges.
The third, a Puerto Rican, saw it heavily in favour of Khan despite the loss of points.
They also protested that the scores were changed during the confusion and long delay between the end of the fight and the announcement of the result.
Khan believed his appeal had 'a 50-50 chance of succeeding' but the IBF have ruled there is no case to answer .
Their official observer at ringside scored it a draw, while the WBA supervisor had Peterson as the winner.
Khan has been supported by a body of opinion among the fight fraternity in Britain, myself included.
But the view in America is very different. Veteran New York based promoter Cedric Kushner says: 'It's difficult to see why this should be overturned. It was a very close fight which could have gone either way and the referee is in there to control the boxers.'
The Peterson camp strenuously opposed any reversal of the decision, even though Khan has promised in turn to give Lamont an immediate rematch if it happens.
How Khan regrets not simply trusting Peterson to stand by his word.
The Khans have pencilled in a May date at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for the rematch but not even the offer of a million-dollar pay-night – as opposed to the $650,000 he received as the challenger in Washington – is likely to be enough to entice Peterson.
Arum says: 'Lamont can get a million dollars to fight anybody now. Most probably, he will take an easier opponent in the spring. Providing he wins, that would make the return with Bradley even bigger for him later next year.'
Khan bid to overturn Peterson defeat heats up as Golden Boy chief hits out at scorers
Amir Khan's camp have ramped up their attempt to have his defeat by Lamont Peterson overturned by claiming there were serious irregularities in the scoring of the Washington bout.
The accusation has come from Khan's promoters Golden Boy and is the most serious allegation levelled at the District of Columbia Boxing and Wrestling Commission.
Chief executive Richard Schaefer claims that the WBA master scorecard did not match that of the local commission and the IBF scorecard went missing after the fight only to re-emerge three days ago looking like 'it had been made up after the fact'.
Khan's camp expect their case to be heard on January 18 or 19 by the IBF and WBA in New York.

Khan faces nervous wait after submitting appeal against Peterson defeat
Amir Khan is hoping to secure a rematch with Lamont Peterson after launching an appeal against the judges' scoring in his split-decision loss to the American in their light-welterweight title fight.'We'll find out in the next five to seven days if the decision is overturned,' Khan told Sky Sports News. 'If that's the case, I will give him a rematch to settle the score.'
The 25-year-old Englishman lost his WBA and IBF titles in the defeat in Washington on Saturday after being deducted points on two occasions for pushing.
International Boxing Federation President Daryl Peoples confirmed that Khan's camp has also appealed against referee Joseph Cooper's decision to deduct points.
'We have just asked Golden Boy Promotions for a DVD of the tape so I can review it with the Championships Chairman (Lindsey Tucker),' Peoples said.
Khan claimed the scorecards were changed before the results were read out by the ring announcer.
The 2004 Olympic silver medalist also said he only resorted to pushing Peterson because his opponent was constantly leading with his head.
Khan's second professional loss dealt a setback to his hopes of moving up to welterweight ahead of a potential fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr., the unbeaten WBC champion.
'This has only put me back three to six months because hopefully I'll get the rematch with Peterson and beat him,' Khan said. 'Maybe it's happened for a reason. It's given me an extra fight, given me more experience and made me a lot wiser and I'll be a lot more mature when I fight Mayweather.'
Khan's appeal into shock Peterson defeat in Washington to be heard in January
0 komentar Diposting oleh Football di 00.19Amir Khan's camp have been informed by the WBA and IBF that an appeal into the controversial points defeat by Lamont Peterson will be held in mid January.
Golden Boy Promotions chief executive Richard Schaefer revealed that contrary to reports, the sanctioning bodies will investigate events in Washington 10 days ago.
Khan was relieved of his WBA and IBF world titles by Peterson, the hometown fighter, in a decision that continues to be bitterly disputed by the 25-year-old.
'We have filed an official appeal which will trigger a thorough investigation from the IBF and WBA,' said Schaefer. 'I've been given an update by the IBF and WBA. They both want the appeal in New York on January 18 and 19.
'They will make their decision on whether the outcome should be overturned, should stand or if there needs to be a rematch. There is clear outrage against the officiating and something needs to be done.'
Schaefer is furious with what he views as a hometown decision, citing in the first instance discrepancies in the way the scorecards were compiled and collected.
The IBF's master scorecard disappeared immediately after the fight, only for an IBF scorecard to be produced 48 hours ago that Schaefer claims was clearly made subsequently.
'There is clearly some smoke in relation to the scorecards. Where there's smoke, there's fire,' said Schaefer. 'There is nothing in the rules related to pushing. Even excessive pushing isn't a foul.
'There was clearly no basis for a one-point deduction, and certainly not for a two-point deduction. The fact is this is one of the worst cases of home cooking I have seen.
'Peterson was warned throughout the fight about using his head, but Cooper never deducted a point from him.
The preferred option for Schaefer is to see the result overturned, but if that outcome is not forthcoming, he wants to see Peterson honour his pledge for an immediate rematch.
'We've been able to secure the Staples Centre in LA on May 19 - neutral ground for both fighters,' he said. 'We've made Team Peterson a seven-figure offer and are waiting to hear back from them. I'd be shocked if they don't offer a rematch.'
Khan continues to feel aggrieved at the decision, which many observers felt could have gone either way.
'I deserve a fair chance, a fair fight. I hope Lamont gives me the rematch I deserve,' he said.
Wayne Bridge Exclusive: Play golf? Mancini is my only handicap
0 komentar Diposting oleh Football di 00.12Wayne Bridge is not after sympathy - all he wants is an opportunity to put across his side of the story. This is the former England defender's considered response to Roberto Mancini's criticism after two years largely spent in exile.
Mancini claims the Manchester City defender is motivated by money, pulling in £95,000 a week and spending Saturday afternoons down at the driving range. Golf is his big thing, according to Mancini; swinging clubs is his priority instead of trying to find one to take on his super-sized salary.
Given the freedom and platform to express himself, Bridge has laid bare his frustrations after so long in isolation, an isolation that has seen him spend a month at a time training with the kids at City.
It is all here - his relationship with Mancini and his thoughts on walking away from England after John Terry's alleged affair with Bridge's ex-girlfriend and mother of his son.
He has nothing left to lose now, not after Mancini poked fun at him in a pre-determined attack ahead of City's Barclays Premier League fixture with Stoke City last Wednesday.
'The only player I've seen isolated like this was Bogarde at Chelsea'
'Mancini doesn't really speak to me, he doesn't really speak to any of the players. The only time I've known a player isolated like this was Winston Bogarde at Chelsea. Usually you still train with the first team, even when they want you out.'
TAKING A SWING
'Wayne has had two or three chances (to go somewhere). In the summer he had the chance to play for Celtic, and this is an important team. I don't know what he does on Saturdays now. Golf?'
'I've never caused trouble, I'm not that kind of character,' he said. 'There will be days when I'm frustrated - not depressed, but down. Training helps take my mind off the fact that I don't play.
'I don't like confrontation, to be honest. It takes a while for me to lose it, but when I do…
'Some players are totally different to me - they would phone the manager and say things there and then. I just get on with things and hope they resolve themselves. Even when I'm playing I just like to get on with my own life. 'If I kicked up a fuss I might have got out easier.'
That is the plan, negotiating with City to secure his release in the January transfer window. He has been training hard and his five per cent body fat - the lowest at City - is unlikely to be troubled by the home-made chocolate cake his popstar girlfriend Frankie is serving.
'I hate that my parents can't come and watch me or Frankie, who loves to watch football, can't come with her mum and dad.
'It is like I am letting them down as well because they are so proud to see me out there playing. They have been really supportive.
'They are people I can call when I am down. They cheer me up straight away and slap me back into place. Aaron Lincoln, my agent, has been amazing.
'Everyone has been so supportive and they can all tell when I have been down.'
There has been talk of Arsenal taking him on loan and there has been interest from Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain. He desperately wants to get away, to rediscover the zest for the game that took him to the very top.
Bridge played in the 2003 FA Cup final for Southampton and went on to win two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and the League Cup with Chelsea. Inevitably he regards Jose Mourinho as the best manager he played under. His eyes light up with the memories of a glorious goal against Arsenal in the 2004 Champions League quarter-final at Highbury, and a beauty he scored against Portsmouth the previous season.
'There was a time when I could have gone to Portsmouth on loan, but I had to say no - my dad's Southampton and I grew up supporting them. Dad would never have spoken to me again.'
This is the old Bridge, bounding with enthusiasm as he talks about the games that earned him 36 caps before he retired from international football in a storm of publicity last year.
He misses England, but maintains he was left with no alternative after refusing to shake Terry's hand when City travelled to Stamford Bridge in February 2010.
'It has been difficult for me over the last couple of years football-wise - I have not played great and personal stuff that had gone on. I don't want to talk too much about it. I don't want to bring up the situation that happened because I didn't talk about it at the time and what's the point?
'If I had gone to the World Cup it would have been an absolute media frenzy. I probably could talk about it one day, but at this precise moment I don't think it is going to help me and I don't think it's going to help anyone else who was involved.
'I had never been in the press before. Then I was and everyone had an opinion about it. It was like I felt, "Just leave me to get on with it". Some were supportive and some weren't. That's just the way it is. But I got a lot of support and I am thankful for the support I did get. I can deal with it. Everyone was talking about it and I just didn't want to talk about it.
'At the time, (England manager) Fabio Capello called me two or three times but it wasn't right. 'My personal life has got better. I am happy at the moment and the football has got to get better in January.'
He is expecting to move and is prepared for the next phase of his career.
'My next move has to be right for me. I'd rather play three games a week than none, but I'm entitled to leave. City claimed I'm only at the club for the money, but when it comes to the deal to let me go, it becomes about the money for them.'
After this, it is time for City to do the right thing.
